We are always looking for new members to help us out. No matter what your commitment is we would love to have you involved.

WHAT'S NEW?

We plan to relaunch our Phoenix Parents'  Council in the new year, but in the meantime we would be very happy if you would let us know if you would like to support us this year. Everyone has something to offer and the only requirement to join the group is that you have a child at the school!

Don't be nervous or daunted by the thought of coming along to one of our meetings. We are friendly, but we do understand it can be difficult for parents to take take the first step. The meetings are just an opportunity for parents to get together over a cup of coffee and a bun. A chance to get to know new people, as well as discussing how we can support the school.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Parents' Council is a special group. As an integrated school which was set up by parents who wanted an alternative to segregated education in NI, we value your voice! Everyone who has a child at school is entitled to join the council. We have a Committee who take on organisational roles, but you can be part of the council without this, if you feel it would be too much of an undertaking.

SURVEY: We plan to use a survey to collect information from parents to help plan effectively to encourage your involvment, for example; best time for meetings, how much time you would like to give, ideas for future work? We look forward to hearing from you and working with you this year.

Click on the survey icon to complete it online. Thank you very much!

Check out the CEOP Internet Safety Website for sensible advice about how to support your child  with using technology and the internet.Click on picture to take you to the site. Get your children to look at their age group page too (while you supervise them of course, as some of the clips can be upsetting).

Being a parent is one of the most rewarding jobs you will ever have, but everyone knows it can be challenging at times! Here is a website you may find useful. We hope our Parents' Council Group will be a source of support for parenting issues and would like to plan activities in this area! I'm sure you will all agree we all need a little help at times.

Check out the Department of Education's website area for ideas and guidance for parents. You are your child's first educator and should be working in partnership with the school to support learning! Research has proved time and time again that children whose parents take an interest in their learning are more successful in their education and preparation for life.  It has some really useful tips!
