Today in Year 4, we made carrot cake based on a recipe used during World War 2. We have learnt about rationing and the 'Dig for Victory' so know that people of that time had limited supplies of food. After we had made the cakes, we saw a carrot cake made in recent times. We discussed how the more recent cake was decorated and the WW2 cake wasn't. We decided that this was because they had to limit what they used back then. We recognised how lucky we are nowadays!
